JANUARY 2017 WELCOME LETTER
Welcome back and a special welcome to the families that became part of our Montessori Family this term. We are pleased to state that the familiarisation sessions went well and the children are largely settled, ready to integrate into the classes. They will meet our returning students on Monday, 9th January 2017. We would like to remind parents of our new joiners to prepare their children for the change in the environment and to allow for a period of adjustment. Please feel free to approach the office for any assistance at any time, including making appointments with your children's teachers to discuss school related matters.
We are looking forward to a productive term, rich with activity. The cultural calendar begins earlier this year, with the Lunar New Year celebrations happening on 28th January 2017.
We shall usher in the Year of the Rooster and some great fun is planned for this occasion. The celebrations in school will be held on February 8th, 2017 from 9 a.m. More information will be provided at a later date.

HANDBOOKS
Handbooks that you received must be read so you are aware of the policies and undertaking of the school. It also includes safety and security measures in place that must be adhered to, by parents and caregivers. Handbooks intended for parents of our continuing children will be sent within the children's work folders on 20th January 2017.
Please click this link for the online version.
IDENTIFICATION TAGS
ID Tags were issued to all persons that you have nominated to collect your child from school. Please contact the school office immediately if you have not received the above. To ensure the safe dismissal of your children, please see that the person collecting a child from school is wearing (or is able to display) the ID tag we have issued. This practice will expedite the dismissal process.
HEALTH CHECK FORMS
Health forms will be issued on Monday, 9th January 2017. Please ensure that the form is properly completed and sent with your children. We will be carrying out 100% health check as we resume school. Please be reminded of our health policy as detailed in the Handbook. Thank you.
UPDATES
- Information on/of allergies and/or relevant medical conditions that we should be aware of which have not been previously communicated to us. This includes food and beverage restrictions if applicable.
- Updates of your mailing addresses and contact details which include those of your nominee mentioned in the Medical Consent form.
PUNCTUALITY
We would like to remind parents of the importance of children being dropped off and picked up in a timely manner.
TRAFFIC
In our ongoing efforts to increase the efficiency of traffic flow, we seek your cooperation in following the directions of the staff on traffic watch and please avoid obstructing the driveways of our neighbours. A smoother flow of traffic would result in a shorter waiting time for you and thus your cooperation in the above is much appreciated. Thank you.
PARKING
Please note that parking in the school compound is strictly reserved for vehicles on school business. Do follow directions given by staff members when using our car park.
VOLUNTEERING

We would be happy to welcome volunteers for the ‘Reading Mums and Dads’ programme, please do contact the school office for details. Mums who can help with organising cookery projects, craft projects for upcoming events and present cultural events from their countries of origin are also welcome. Thank you.
WORK FOLDERS
We continue to reinforce the Montessori material work in the classrooms and will be sending the folder containing your children's work for the week, on 20th January 2017.
Please ensure that your child is attired in comfortable, casual clothing and foot ware. The children do work with paint and glue so we suggest that you avoid dressing them in any expensive attire. The footwear should be practical and safe which would exclude any flip-flops, slippers or open-toed shoes. We ask that all items sent to school are clearly marked with your child’s name or has a name tag.
We invite you to celebrate your child’s birthday in school.
Please note:
- Birthday celebrations are held only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- We do not encourage ‘goodie bags’ or gifts as part of the celebration
- Please remember that these are little ones and a small piece of cake and a child-sized packaged juice would be best
- The school has a strict policy concerning allergens and we ask that you follow the policy as stated in the Parent’s Handbook
- Please call early to book your appointments and do consider that the slot you want may already be taken and thus you may have to be flexible with the date.
