HEALTH ADVISORY

Health Advisory - Update
Dear Parents,

We trust that you remain well-informed of the visiting flu in Singapore.  We remind you to kindly visit:  The Ministry of Health information page about influenza for current information about influenza.  This seasonal visit is best responded to, with practical measures.

The most, in defense that we can all offer, as always, is to allow for children who are unwell, to be allowed to recover completely, before returning to school.

We wish to assure you that all precautions continue to be taken at school, including fumigation, stringent cleaning, and disinfection of the building, to ensure the well-being of our student population and members of staff.

Please feel free to call us if you have any questions in this regard.

Thank you.

May Chan

ID Tags were issued to all persons that you have nominated to collect your child from school.  Please contact the school office immediately if you have not received the above. To ensure the safe dismissal of your children, please see that the person collecting a child from school is wearing (or is able to display) the ID tag we have issued.  This practice will expedite the dismissal process.

HEALTH CHECK FORMS

Health forms will be issued on Monday, 9th January 2017.  Please ensure that the form is properly completed and sent with your children.  We will be carrying out 100% health check as we resume school.  Please be reminded of our health policy as detailed in the Handbook.  Thank you.

  • Updates of your mailing addresses and contact details which include those of your nominee mentioned in the Medical Consent form.
PUNCTUALITY
We would like to remind parents of the importance of children being dropped off and picked up in a timely manner.

TRAFFIC

In our ongoing efforts to increase the efficiency of traffic flow, we seek your cooperation in following the directions of the staff on traffic watch and please avoid obstructing the driveways of our neighbours.  A smoother flow of traffic would result in a shorter waiting time for you and thus your cooperation in the above is much appreciated.  Thank you.

PARKING

Please note that parking in the school compound is strictly reserved for vehicles on school business.  Do follow directions given by staff members when using our car park.

VOLUNTEERING

We would be happy to welcome volunteers for the ‘Reading Mums and Dads’ programme, please do contact the school office for details.  Mums who can help with organising cookery projects, craft projects for upcoming events and present cultural events from their countries of origin are also welcome.  Thank you.

WORK FOLDERS

We continue to reinforce the Montessori material work in the classrooms and will be sending the folder containing your children's work for the week, on 20th January 2017.

SCHOOL ATTIRE

Please ensure that your child is attired in comfortable, casual clothing and foot ware.  The children do work with paint and glue so we suggest that you avoid dressing them in any expensive attire.  The footwear should be practical and safe which would exclude any flip-flops, slippers or open-toed shoes.  We ask that all items sent to school are clearly marked with your child’s name or has a name tag.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

We invite you to celebrate your child’s birthday in school.
Please note:
  • Birthday celebrations are held only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • We do not encourage ‘goodie bags’ or gifts as part of the celebration
  • Please remember that these are little ones and a small piece of cake and a child-sized packaged juice would be best
  • The school has a strict policy concerning allergens and we ask that you follow the policy as stated in the Parent’s Handbook
  • Please call early to book your appointments and do consider that the slot you want may already be taken and thus you may have to be flexible with the date.

WRAP UP LETTER - DECEMBER 2016

"Time flies when one is having fun" and this is so true this term!  We are coming to the close of a term that has been filled with a lot of activity.  A big shout out to all of you for lending enormous support to stage our Holiday Pageant.  Thank you!

As we approach the holiday season, we would like to extend our grateful thanks to you, parents of our students, who have helped the school, in numerous ways.  From volunteering to read with our children, to offering referrals to parents of prospective students and contributing to our cultural events to make it the rich tapestry it has become, we are glad that you are with us!  In turn, we hope that we have fulfilled out commitment to educating your children in a comprehensive and holistic manner so their learning, continues through their lifetime.

With every passing year, the number of children we graduate increases and it is a clear indication that the Montessori programme we offer is seen as an ideal preparatory programme for the next stage of a child's education - Primary school.
We look forward to your continued support of Montessori education.

We ended the term with a special celebration - a 'baby shower' party for one of our teachers, Rumeshi Fernando, who will be going on maternity leave.  In her absence,
Ishani Manatunga will undertake the duties in the Violet Room morning and afternoon sessions.  Ishani has been with the organisation since 2000 and brings with her many years of experience.
